Ellen Miller-Pond, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Ellen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist who believes that her professional career is a journey to walk with others, build trust and facilitate their strengths, improving the quality and functioning of their own lives. Ellen has a wide range of experience working with children, adolescents and adults and families of all cultures, abilities and challenges. The therapeutic alliance is a gift and the quality of work within this alliance is a reflection of the individual's investment in the process. It is Ellen's belief that the therapist should bring as many skills, techniques and strategies to the process, and allow for the empowerment of the individual/family/group to develop and flourish.

Ellen is a graduate of Sacred Heart University with an accelerated BSW and Southern Connecticut State University with an MSW and specialization in mental health and substance abuse. Ellen had the opportunity to do her graduate school internship at CMHC in New Haven, considered a Yale University fellowship within the DHMAS system.

Ellen's approach to therapy is eclectic, including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Insight Orientated Therapy, Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy (symbolic, parallel, and art), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, Strength Based Approach. Spirituality is considered not only as a moral compass, but a private, personal resource/relationship and can be a tremendous asset to therapy, but is clearly, and individual choice.

Ellen has more than 25 years of experience working with CT-based, non-profit agencies, including: The Kennedy Center Inc., Child Guidance Center of Greater Bridgeport, Community Mental Health Affiliates (CMHA) and Wellmore Inc., in Waterbury. Most recently, she spent a year and a half as a clinician with Roeder & Polanski, Family and Child Associates, a group private practice located in Middletown.

Some of her other interests include guitar, songwriting, poetry, photography, horseback riding, camping, hiking and kayaking. God, family, and friends are most loved and valued!
